Just for analogy, you are the moon. And the reflection on the water is your ego, and water being body and mind which carries that ego. Those waves are your thoughts.
Right now you think that you are the reflection on water. You think that you are that water body since you have associated your reflection(thoughts) with the body. So you now think that reflections on water and the water represent you completely. And thus the game begins. All you see around you, are people who are so caught up in this game that they hardly question their existence. They hardly question who they really are.
In real life, moon represents the ever shining awareness. You are awareness. Your body exists because you are aware and not the other way around. Just be completely still and silent for even 10 minutes and you might realize something. That "you" or "I" is coming from this awareness.
There is something more than this body and thoughts that makes you feel alive. That something is you and you are awareness.
Awareness is the source of all. This is the same awareness that is present is you and same thing is present in me, same thing is present is every living body. hence source of all is awareness that is the platform on which entire exists. So I, you or any one else is in reality the awareness. And we all are one. We are the still and silent Moon. And not the random, disturbed waves.
You are sat-chit-anand, i.e. satchitanand. Sat means existence, chit means consciousness and anand means bliss. So existence in consciousness is perfect bliss, and not existing in mere body and mind. And only few bodies like humans have this capability of seeking. You have selected this human body for this purpose only. There is no other purpose. All other so called purposes are illusions created by your mind. Once you realize this and then rest all can be pursued. But first realize yourself. It costs nothing. Neither will you lose anything. You will be the same as you are but with higher awareness. You are awareness. If you are ever aware then you will be ever conscious and so ever blissful.
